Marlee Hayes is an abstract artist based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Marlee embarked on her artistic journey at a young age. She pursued her passion for the arts at Columbia College Chicago, where she obtained her B.A., and later went on to earn her M.A. from the University of South Dakota Graduate School.
Known for her dynamic abstract paintings, Marlee captivates audiences with her distinctive artistic approach. As a dedicated mother to her two children, Tripp and Sevy, Marlee draws inspiration from her children's boundless sense of wonder and fearless creativity. Marlee’s husband manages their family farm in Pierre, South Dakota, allowing their family to enjoy the best of both city and country living.
Marlee is endorsed by the South Dakota Arts Council and she travels the state teaching hands-on art workshops in the pursuit of making art more accessible and inclusive in South Dakota. She has also served as an artist-in-residence at the Sanford Cancer Center and Children’s Hospital since 2016 using her art to provide solace and healing to patients and their loved ones.
